Project Global – Spring 2026

Project Global: The Logistics of Waste and Wind extrapolates the infrastructures of two renewable resources that quietly sustain everyday life in Denmark. Across four themes–policy frameworks, global supply chains, resource value, consumption patterns–seven architectural projects reveal the renewable potential of waste and wind infrastructure.Throughout the Danish rural and urban landscape, these projects explore how the material and spatial networks supporting these technological systems impact contemporary life.The work investigates how current policy frameworks and long-term planning can shape spatial futures. Drawing on recent environmental agendas and regulatory developments, the seven projects examine processes unfolding under current policies, to find opportunities for strengthening implementation. They propose systems, buildings, and spaces that accelerate infrastructural transitions or challenge planned but unrealistic scenarios by offering alternative trajectories for achieving stated goals and ambitions.

Collective Synthetic Drawings

Through the construction of synthetic drawings across the scales of systems, spaces, and elements, students bring together their individual spatial arguments and examine how they relate within the shared logistics environments and systemic context shaping the built environment in Denmark.

Observations from Denmark

A short documentary series made through phone footage of site visits and expert conversations highlighting a key design aspect in the projected futures of the systems of study. The methodology emphasizes observational, vérité-style documentation, remaining open to unscripted situations, while also incorporating moments of direct engagement between the filmmaker and their subjects.

Seven Architectural Projects

The projects challenge the assumptions of infinite seamless availability and individual comfort that underlie current consumption patterns. They question how resilience can emerge through spatial systems capable of responding to material scarcity and fluctuating energy conditions. Imagining adaptation as a cultural and spatial shift toward shared systems and collective resilience, they propose futures in which resource awareness and participation become part of everyday life and the supporting infrastructure is no longer distant and largely invisible
Wind Towns by Devanshi Mittal

Increasingly fragile global supply chains, together with high carbon footprint of wind turbine manufacturing, will result in a distributed wind energy model in Denmark, based on smaller, repairable turbines, that are fully circular.

Digital Church by Valia Thoma

As wind turbine testing shifts from static verification in physical test centres to continuous, adaptive virtual testing, creating digital twins, permanent sensors embedded in all new turbines become the data source for validation and enable ongoing verification and evolution.

Wind Battery by Zarin Tasnim

To ensure continuous power supply from unstable irregular wind sources, Denmark will implement gravity based energy buffers, by giving these buffers a civic and spatial presence, architecture renders visible our relationship to where energy comes from.

Landfill Farms by Xiaoran Zhang

A mining-to-preparation cycle of landfill sites will play a role in both as the main method for the eternal aftercare and a trading market for the excavated and sorted materials, in addressing the challenges of resource scarcity and risks of extended landfill monitoring period.

Geothermal Civic Center by Dominga Natho

In a post-waste and wind-dependent future, unpredictable energy supplies will transform geothermal infrastructure into collective civic hearths for thermal resilience.

Recycling Palace by Eugenia Forte

This proposal establishes a repair infrastructure network for Denmark, ensuring existing genbrugsstationer will evolve into high-capacity reparation hubs. As repair transforms the societal relationship to waste, this systemic shift will replace disposal with a permanent, territorial infrastructure of maintenance.

Blade House by Payal Merja

Wind turbine blade waste will transition from isolated symbolic reuse into a scalable architectural material system capable of replacing conventional construction assemblies across domestic, civic, and infrastructural buildings.
